MEET CHERYL

Are you really leaving Connecticut after all these years and moving to Maui?

“Each moment of the year has it’s own beauty… a picture which shall never be seen again.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our journey to Maui began in the Fall of 2006. We had been living and working in CT for 60 plus years, Richard as a Pharmacist/Manager for 40 years at Lenox Pharmacy in Manchester, CT and Cheryl as a Medical Assistant/Office Manager for 38 years, the last 18 with years Dr. George Donahue in Enfield, CT. We were avid campers and camped on the West River at Bald Mountain Campground in Townshend, VT for 30 years. We were married in 1968 and had our wonderful daughter and now best friend in 1970. This decision to move to Maui would prove to be a very big decision for us. We decided to join Kim and her husband Craig here in Maui to start a whole new phase of our life’s journey. We thought we could have some fun just like they were and finish our working years in paradise. Why not? They were doing it! We put an action plan together and by December 24, 2006 we arrived in Maui to enjoy the last of our working years in a vacation location.Maui Humpback Whales

We put our house on the market in CT and it sold in 1 week. During this process Kim calls and tells us we must purchase this house here in Kahului that had just fallen out of escrow. We had to buy it right then and there and close within 2 weeks. We had planned to build an Ohana on their land so this was a big change of plans already. It was all meant to be and we started seeing signs often that our decision to move to Maui was a good one. The first sign we really noticed was when our house in CT closed at the very same time and day our new house in Maui recorded.

We arrived in Maui on Dec. 24, 2006 at 9PM. Kim and Craig picked us up at the airport and drove us to our new house which was soon to become our home. Carl, Craig’s Dad was waiting for us at the house. They had been working at our new house before we arrived and we were so surprised to see Christmas Candles lit in our windows and a beautiful Christmas tree all decorated and lit. Carl and Craig even put up blinds for us and they put a few pieces of furniture and a TV there so we would be all set until our container arrived. We had champagne and toasted our new beginning.

Turns out we moved into the perfect neighborhood, we just love our neighbors, they are some of the nicest people anyone could meet. We are the older folks in the neighborhood and we are enjoying all the laughing children and the parties in the garages. A custom here in Maui that we had never seen anywhere else. You’ll just pass a neighbor and they’ll invite you over to barbeque that night in the driveway. We love it!

Now it was time for us to find employment.

Kim & Craig are Mortgage Professionals and are in the business of helping their clients reach their financial goals through education and exploring their options. Their business is growing and they needed an assistant. So Mom was called. This is a big change for me. Working in medicine for so many years I wasn’t sure I’d be able to learn a whole new profession. Kim and Craig are excellent teachers and we have become a good team. I’ve learned a whole new way to help people and have made many new friends with the professionals we work with and some of our clients too. It is so nice to see the mutual respect and appreciation our clients have when they reach their goal of either refinancing a property or purchasing a new place. It is very rewarding to know we are helping people get to where they want to be.

Rich interviewed with a few pharmacies while we were still in CT and when we arrived here he spent some time interviewing at Maui Clinic Pharmacy. Both Maui Clinic Pharmacy and Rich had found the perfect match. He is really enjoying his new position there. This is a very busy pharmacy with lots of prescriptions being filled each day. They even have a robot to assist. His name is Ernie. Rich really enjoys working with his new colleagues and friends. He is continuing his education here and is currently becoming certified to give vaccines.Maui Dolphins

Vermont is where my photography passion began. At first, like many others I just took pictures. Then one day I decided that I could create my own greeting cards for friends and family. I liked writing my own messages in the cards and thought the photographs would be enjoyed by everyone too.

Once that decision was made the way I looked at and saw everything in my life changed. Now I was seeing beauty, art and magnificent scenery and framing photos and memories in my mind before I shot the picture. People doing normal things now are seen through different eyes.

After many requests and suggestions from friends and family that I should be selling my cards for them to buy and use as gifts I finally decided to start my own business and share my passion for photography.

So it is with passion and a desire to share the beauty all around me that CAS Photography Online is being created. We will carry a line of my photo greeting cards, framed and matted photographs or just matted photographs that were taken by me.

We will start with the Maui collection and as my business grows we will add other photo options like, Oahu, Italy, VT, CT, Jamaica, Curacao, Bonaire, Bahamas and other Caribbean Islands.

We feel truly blessed to be here in Maui and want to thank our new friends here for welcoming us with such open arms. We also want to thank Kim and Craig for all they do for and with us each day. They are a parents dream children. We are blessed…

Aloha,
Cheryl
